As his adults-only, viral YouTube video, "Ice Cream Truck," approaches 1.5 million hits, performer and producer Lucas E. Cazwell posted a video recording his comments and reflections about life, career and the the strange, glittering nightlife of New York's East Village he presides over.
Represented by Peace Bisquit, a New York talent agency, Cazwell works as master of ceremonies, DJ, rapper and personality at exclusive parties in the city's East Village.
In a YouTube video recorded before production of his first music video, " I Seen Beyonce in Burger King," Cazwell says he promotes parties for a living.
Gay icon
Cazwell claims his childhood in Worcester, Mass., gave him the attitude he needs to succeed as an artist, nightlife personality and performer.
Cazwell started his rapping career with a lesbian performer in Boston, but the duo eventually parted company over what Cazwell claims is an age-old dispute between gays and lesbians.
"Gays and lesbians have different priorities," he says. "We have a different work ethic."
The lesbian placed her girlfriend and job ahead of her art. Cazwell says he always makes art his number one priority.
He never wants to take his exotic life for granted because he truly enjoys it, but the performer who considers himself a gay icon, says he also yearns for something more domestic.
Sexy videos
The sexy crew of dancers in " Ice Cream Truck, " who expose their perfectly oiled and exfoliated bodies in step with a bouncy bass line, seem to contradict Cazwell's domestic yearnings. The boys turn the tables on the booty-bouncing babes of most rap videos with some of their own gyrations.
Before bright colored backgrounds, individual dancers mug and dance bare-chested with props, like an electric fan or boom box. In another scene, the boys, packed into a low rent flat, dance the gauntlet in boxer shorts. Beware, moons arise in this video.
In comments to the YouTube video, even some reportedly straight men made sexually confused posts:
"I'm straight guy but these guys are pretty hot. They're pretty decent dancers."
"Ice Cream Truck" was released in 2010 as an album in three versions available on iTunes and at Peace Bisquit.
Cazwell's professionally produced videos as of 2010 contain colorful images, catchy tunes and lyrics that get caught in your head.
Bugs bunny
Cazwell says he sees himself as a cartoon character, an attitude reflected in the giant chains and oversized gems he wears onstage with fitted jeans and pastel-colored frocks.
While he says he considers himself sexy when he's having sex, even cute, perhaps, but otherwise more like a cartoon, he says.
He calls Bugs Bunny an inspiration, "The first gay character i ever related to," he says.
